The best live streaming apps on Android

The online video market was already successful long before the advent of smartphones. YouTube has managed to maintain its first place, but it is not the only one on the market, and the arrival of live videos is likely to shake it. Today, several services have switched to live streaming apps, we will present them to you below.

As you can imagine, the live smartphone video system is relatively new. Smartphones appeared around 10 years ago, worthy heirs to the PDAs and cellphones of yesteryear. The water has flowed under the bridges, watching videos on the small smartphone screen has become normal (which would have been unthinkable a few years ago). Faced with the success of YouTube and the growing need for communication, the world of video continues to improve: player, definition, all the technical elements are included. Now it is the concept of video itself that is improved since videos no longer need to be recorded and then uploaded; they can be streamed live.

In the realm of digital entertainment, streaming apps on Android devices have revolutionized the way we consume media. Whether it’s movies, TV shows, music, or live broadcasts, these apps provide users with instant access to a vast and diverse array of content. Services like Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, and YouTube offer seamless streaming experiences, allowing users to enjoy their favorite content anytime, anywhere. The convenience of on-the-go entertainment has made these apps an integral part of our daily lives, turning our Android devices into portable entertainment hubs. With features like offline viewing, personalized recommendations, and high-quality streaming, these apps have transformed the entertainment landscape, giving users unparalleled flexibility and choice in their digital content consumption.

There are many live streaming apps. The success of recent applications shows that it is a promising market; more and more developers are trying the adventure, but some are more popular than others.

    • To come up:

    Meerkat

This application is one of the pioneers in the field. Originally, you needed a Facebook or Twitter account to use the app, but soon after its launch, Twitter bought out its competitor Periscope. A cold war is more or less declared between the two; Twitter, for example, tried to prevent Meerkat users from finding their other Twitter contacts from the app, but Meerkat found an alternative.

It is clear that the application has lost its splendor, probably in the face of the weight of the competition. Although Twitter has a competing app, it still allows you to link Meerkat to your account to simplify shares and connections. As an observer, you have access to videos posted by other users and can interact by writing a comment or showing that you like via an equivalent of “like.” You can also see if the video is popular since the number of people viewing it is also displayed.

Streamed videos can also be saved to your smartphone, which can be handy if you plan to re-view the video for some reason. For example, a speaker might want to review their performance frequently to see which points they need to rework. You can also broadcast and live by using Oreo TV for PC.

    Periscope

This app is probably the most talked about app. Acquired by Twitter in early 2015, it quickly became the most popular live-stream application. However, it suffers from a bad technical reputation: heating problem, too fast battery drain, crashes. These problems will obviously be resolved with the next versions, but they tarnish the application’s reputation, which is far from possible. Be a good thing for Twitter in the face of the breakthrough of the competition.

In practice, Periscope allows more or less the same things as Meerkat, but in my opinion it is prettier and more intuitive. We recognize the Twitter button with the colors and icons, and overall the app is fun to use. You can access direct streams as well as previously broadcast videos.

Regarding the Francophonie in general and France in particular, Periscope is used a lot more than Meerkat, so you will obviously find a lot more videos there. Some are interesting, others show us people singing (wrong) while waiting for their bus.

    Facebook Live

If Twitter has moved to direct streaming, Facebook has to move on too. The Facebook Live video service is not very young, it was created in summer 2010, but the app version is quite recent. The good news is that you don’t need to install a new app to use this service; go to your status edit and click on the circled head icon of waves.

The application is really very simple. Once you click on the icon, you enter the information you want to communicate and then click on broadcast. The video will then appear in the news feed of your contacts (or fans, if it’s a page). I recommend that you let your contacts / fans know in advance that you plan to broadcast a live video on Facebook, and if you want to acquire new ones, it is recommended that you enter a precise and attractive description.

    Twitch

Twitch is a service dedicated to gamers or, at least, video game enthusiasts. Each player can film themselves playing and make the video accessible to the public. On a small scale, it allows players to learn all the tricks of a game by watching others play. On a large scale, we see true video game professionals competing against each other in competitions. Almost all popular games are represented, along with other lesser-known games.

The app is also very intuitive. In the menu on your left, you can access the games and channels that interest you. As with other live streaming services, users have the option of commenting on the video, but here it is mostly criticism (constructive or otherwise), teasing or compliments on the way of playing.

If you hold your smartphone vertically, you will find the video at the top and the comments on the rest of the screen. If you switch it to landscape mode, the video will cover your entire screen. If what interests you is seeing people play, you can’t beat it. Ocean of movies is the best website for dubbed movies and watching movies, dramas and comedies.

A Quick Overview of Live streaming apps

Live streaming has become an increasingly popular way to share content with a broader audience. There are a variety of live streaming apps available for Android that cater to different needs and interests.

    2. Periscope – Periscope is a live streaming app that allows users to share live video and interact with viewers in real-time. It is particularly popular for personal broadcasts and events.
    3. Facebook Live – Facebook Live is a live streaming feature available within the Facebook app. It allows users to broadcast live video to their Facebook friends and followers, making it an excellent option for personal or business use.
    4. YouTube Live – YouTube Live is a live streaming feature available within the YouTube app. It allows users to stream content to a global audience and provides a range of features for creators, including chat, polls, and monetization options.
    5. Streamlabs – Streamlabs is a popular app for streaming on multiple platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook. It offers a range of features for streamers, including custom overlays, alerts, and chatbots.

    To come up:

The American giant leads the world of internet video, and it certainly has no intention of letting its social media rivals gain the upper hand. Google had two solutions: release a new application dedicated to live streaming or implement direct streaming services on YouTube. The second solution made the most sense since the app is already popular. At the moment, this feature is not available on mobile, but it will probably arrive soon.
