It’s OK to say hello even if you don’t get it exactly right. Even if you do, you will be appreciated for trying! Greeting others in various languages can be both rewarding and fun.

A common word in many languages around the world is “Hello”! When abroad or in your native country, this is likely to be one of the first things you say to someone you meet.

Greeting someone in a foreign language is a good way to make an impression. Furthermore, it has a very friendly and polite atmosphere. Hello is one of the easiest words to translate in a foreign language because it is just one word, so it requires minimum effort.

We are all capable of having a conversation and communicating abstract and complex ideas, and the most basic way to start one is with a greeting. If you want to start a conversation with a colleague, friend, or even a stranger, a simple Hello can be a great conversation starter.

A word exists in all cultures-a single word that can break the ice, demolish walls, generate smiles, and create an instant bond between total strangers.

I find it quite magical how a simple greeting can evoke so much good feeling in the streets or cause someone to drop everything they’re doing so they can give another all their attention. A different language has a different form of it, as well as a different sound.

In some way, each of these signs signifies the same thing — an acknowledgment of another, a way to express, “I see you.” Just as any new language begins with “hello,” a friendship that lasts a lifetime could begin with “hello!””
